Cook & Prep | 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 6 hot cross buns (grab them from the bakery)
  • 185g British Smoked Streaky Bacon
  • Maple syrup (to taste)
  • Butter (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven:
    Heat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced)

  2. Prepare the bacon:
    • Cut the bacon rashers into 2cm strips.
    • Lay these strips across the buns where the cross is – they’ll crisp up nicely!

  3. Bake the buns:
    • Pop the buns in a baking dish.
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the bacon is nice and crispy and the buns are golden.

  4. Cook the rest of the bacon:
    • While the buns are baking, pan fry the rest of the bacon in a pan until crispy.

  5. Assemble the buns:
    • Once the buns are out of the oven, slice them in half.
    • Add a crispy rasher of bacon inside each one.
    • Drizzle on some maple syrup if you’re keen.

  6. Serve: Put the top halves of the buns back on, and you’re good to go!
